TRANSPORT YARD MANAGER
Aslacton, Norwich
We are looking for an experienced Transport and Yard Manager to join our team at our recently refurbished Aslacton site. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and motivated professional to take on a key leadership role within our management team to develop and grow our business.
As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the yard and transport operations, ensuring the smooth operation of our existing poultry haulage and operations. You will lead, motivate, and manage a team of drivers and yard staff, ensuring that work schedules are met whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, bio security, compliance and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage checks and controls to uphold fleet safety and reliability, collaborating closely with our on site vehicle maintenance service provider to minimise downtime.
- Understand and implement relevant legislation and standards, liaise with internal specialists and regulatory authorities, and continuously improve all aspects of performance.
- Utilise working knowledge of relevant legislation, safety, quality procedures, and site operating instructions.
- Ensure the site under your control is maintained in line with company policies, Health and Safety and external regulatory authorities.
- Budgeting and Expenditure
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify growth opportunities both within our existing customer base and outside it.
- Work with senior management to prepare budgets and manage expenditure within specified parameters.
- Organise the layout and flow of the yard to optimise capacity, efficiency and safety
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven skills in people management and leadership.
- Ability to organise resources according to customer needs and company service with a positive attitude towards customer service and continuous improvement
- Sound working knowledge of current transport regulations and directives and current employment legislation.
- Ideally, a minimum of 3 years’ experience at management or senior supervisory level in a service-oriented environment, with financial experience preferred.
- Good geographic knowledge
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft office/outlook/teams
- An excellent team player, able to work on own initiative and make decisions
- An effective communicator
- Must Possess Transport Management CPC, Essential.
